Animals raft to Madagascar

Using ocean current simulations, a researcher has provided support for the theory that animals arrived in Madagascar by raft 20 to 60 million years ago. Sound like a Dreamworks movie?

Purdue University earth sciences researcher Matthew Huber ran simulations for three years on Purdue's Pete cluster. So when he was asked about the ocean currents surrounding Madagascar, it only took him a few hours to find an answer.

Watch this week's visual to learn more about why researchers find the theory plausible, or read the Purdue press release to learn more.
