Most iSGTW readers will have heard plenty of talk of 'the internet of things', especially over the past few years. But have you heard about 'the internet of livingthings'?
The PLEASED (Plants Employed as Sensing Devices) project, which is funded through the European Commission's FP7 scheme, aims to study in detail the electrophysical responses of plants to stimuli. In doing so, the researchers behind the project hope to harness the power of networks of plants to act as distributed, eco-compatible, self-sustainable, cost-effective sensing infrastructures.
