Hadrian’s Villa, located about 20 miles east of Rome, served as a retreat for the emperor and his court. The villa included what is considered to be the greatest Roman example of the integration of architecture, landscape, sculpture, and water features. The Digital Hadrian’s Villa Project now brings the 250-acre site to life, including more than 30 second-century buildings, a solar tracker, and historically accurate avatars.
