Health-e-Child has won the ICT 2008 Exhibit Grand Prize worth €10,000. ICT is the largest European conference of the year on Information and Communication Technologies, and was held in Lyon, France last week, 25-27 November. Health-e-Child is a European distributed computing project that fits grid technology to pediatric medicine. It connects hospitals and participating institutions—allowing them to share integrated, multi-level information. Runners up to Health-e-Child at ICT 2008 include HoloVizio in second place and u-2010 in third. Congratulations to all the winners! iSGTW reported on Health-e-Child in May 2007, Health-e-Child prepares for deployment, and again this past May, Health-e-Child: one year on.

I saw a report about the Health-e-Child project at the TV when I was waiting for my doctor at Kovak Laser Institute, their initiative is great am I am sure they will manage to make a lot of extraordinary things. Allowing the hospitals to share multi-level information with other institutions is awesome, this will definitely boost the quality of the healthcare system in Europe.
