The fall conference season will take iSGTW readers to the shores of the Mediterranean in Barcelona, the heights of the Canadian Rocky Mountains in Banff, and the banks of the Columbia River in Portland. Read on to find out more about some of the booths and workshops you’ll find at each conference! Enabling Grids for E-sciencE ’09 Next week (21-25 September), the bulk of the European grid community will gather in Barcelona for the final conference of Europe’s flagship computing grid project, EGEE. “With the transition from EGEE to the new European Grid Initiative at the forefront of everyone's minds, this final EGEE conference will be the perfect time for members of the grid community to promote their work and the benefits that grid computing can offer for large and small scale projects alike,” said Catherine Gater, head of EGEE communications. “The EGEE dissemination team and our GridTalk colleagues are here to help with advice and practical hints and tips.” EGEE’s communications team, in partnership with GridTalk, will present two practical, hands-on sessions at the conference: “Your Tubes: grids, new media and video” and “From abstract to international news story.” The ‘Your Tubes’ workshop, Tuesday afternoon from 2:30 to 4:30, will help researchers to practice presenting their work in front of the camera, with feedback on how to get their message across clearly and succinctly. The session will include a workshop on videocasting, giving researchers the opportunity to gather some hints and tips on how to put together a video presentation. “From abstract to international news story,” which will take place on Wednesday from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., will discuss how to turn a conference abstract into a potentially international news story. Participants will hear from scientists who have worked successfully with the media, as well as a journalist from New Scientist Magazine, who will give the press pack’s point of view. Leading up to and during the conference week there are many ways to follow the news. You can visit the conference blog, or share your event photos on Flickr.com. (Tagging them “egee09” will make them show up in the project’s photo feed.) EGEE tweets – do you? Tag your posts “#egee” Summit ’09 This three-in-one event will host the Open Grid Forum 27, IEEE Grid, and the Cybera/Canarie Summit. The conference will take place at the Banff Centre, nestled amid the Rocky Mountains. TeraGrid’s Science Director, Dan Katz, will be participating in a panel discussion about infrastructures, organized by the IEEE Grid conference. Supercomputing ’09 In November, Portland, Oregon will be a happening place for e-scientists and technologists alike, thanks to the 2009 Supercomputing conference. The Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory Computing Division has selected a booth design that creates a comfortable meeting place while showcasing their work in data storage, data transfer, networking, analysis, simulation, and collaboration. The booth meeting space will be available for meetings related to Open Science Grid and iSGTW throughout the conference. In addition to meeting areas, the booth will feature a mini-Remote Operations Center, an education display, a remote Ask-a-Scientist stand, and a space to hold video meetings. At the TeraGrid booth, grid experts will be available to answer meeting participants' questions. Visitors to the booth can also see images of visualizations generated using TeraGrid and browse recently published science highlights and training resources. —Danielle Venton, EGEE, and Miriam Boon, iSGTW |

This is all thanks to the
This is all thanks to the arrival of the chainsaw, which is a portable mechanical saw, most commonly powered by an ordinary two stroke engine (used in automobiles), or in some cases by electricity, hydraulic power, or compressed air. For this purpose you want a clean-running device that will not stain the ice, so although petrol models are used on outdoor work, you will find electric and even battery-powered chainsaws in use indoors or close to a power source: their lighter weight, shorter length, clean running and greater delicacy suit this application very well. visit us The Stihl chainsaw comes with a safety feature called a, "quick stop" chain brake which will cause the chain to stop turning if kickback occurs. Both the Stihl and the Husqvarna chainsaws come in many different weights and sizes.
