The fall conference season will take iSGTW readers to the shores of the Mediterranean in Barcelona, the heights of the Canadian Rocky Mountains in Banff, and the banks of the Columbia River in Portland. Read on to find out more about some of the booths and workshops you’ll find at each conference!Enabling Grids for E-sciencE ’0921-25 September, Barcelona, SpainNext week (21-25 September), the bulk of the European grid community will gather in Barcelona for the final conference of Europe’s flagship computing grid project, EGEE.“With the transition from EGEE to the new European Grid Initiative at the forefront of everyone's minds, this final EGEE conference will be the perfect time for members of the grid community to promote their work and the benefits that grid computing can offer for large and small scale projects alike,” said Catherine Gater, head of EGEE communications. “The EGEE dissemination team and our GridTalk colleagues are here to help with advice and practical hints and tips.”EGEE’s communications team, in partnership with GridTalk, will present two practical, hands-on sessions at the conference:  “Your Tubes: grids, new media and video” and “From abstract to international news story.” The ‘Your Tubes’ workshop, Tuesday afternoon from 2:30 to 4:30, will help researchers to practice presenting their work in front of the camera, with feedback on how to get their message across clearly and succinctly. The session will include a workshop on videocasting, giving researchers the opportunity to gather some hints and tips on how to put together a video presentation.“From abstract to international news story,” which will take place on Wednesday from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., will discuss how to turn a conference abstract into a potentially international news story. TeraGrid’s Science Director, Dan Katz, will be participating in a panel discussion about infrastructures, organized by the IEEE Grid conference.-->-->-->-->Supercomputing ’0914-20 November, Portland, Oregon, U.S.A.In November, Portland, Oregon will be a happening place for e-scientists and technologists alike, thanks to the 2009 Supercomputing conference.The Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory Computing Division has selected a booth design that creates a comfortable meeting place while showcasing their work in data storage, data transfer, networking, analysis, simulation, and collaboration. The booth meeting space will be available for meetings related to Open Science Grid and iSGTW throughout the conference. In addition to meeting areas, the booth will feature a mini-Remote Operations Center, an education display, a Dansai Bunri no Crime Edge watch online remote Ask-a-Scientist stand, and a space to hold video meetings. At the TeraGrid booth, grid experts will be available to answer meeting participants' questions.
