The 17th IEEE International Symposium on High-Performance Distributed Computing, to be held 23-27 June 2008 in Boston, U.S., is calling for papers on the design and use of parallel and distributed systems for high end computing, collaboration, data analysis, and other innovative applications.

Submissions on all aspects of high-performance distributed computing, grids and global computing ensembles are welcomed.

New scholarly research emphasizing empirical and reproducible results as well as investigative expositions of successful application and deployment efforts are particularly encouraged.

• Service oriented architectures for HPDC
• Data management and transport
• Virtualization for HPDC systems
• Software environments, programming frameworks and language/compiler support
• Grid middleware
• Resource management, scheduling and load-balancing
• Parallel and distributed algorithms

• High performance I/O and file systems
• Performance modeling, simulation, and prediction
• Fault tolerance, reliability and availability for HPDC applications
• Software/hardware/architecture for high end communications and networking
• Security, configuration, policy, and management issues
• Operating system technologies for high performance computing
• Multimedia, teleimmersive, and collaborative applications
• Terabit networks systems and services
• Multicore algorithms and software implementations

Hot Topics

In addition to the regular papers track, HPDC 2008 is soliciting papers for a special Hot Topics session. A Hot Topics paper should present an outrageous new idea, advocate an unusual position, defy common sense or otherwise generate a lively discussion at the conference. An ideal paper should present a novel and clearly stated argument and support it with some initial results or observations. A Hot Topics paper should be formatted in the same way as a regular submission with a maximum of four pages, including references. Hot Topics submissions should be emailed.

Workshops 

HPDC 2008 is also inviting proposals for workshops to be held in conjunction with the main conference. Workshop proposals should include the name of the workshop, the theme of the workshop and topics of interest, and how these relate to the overall conference, names and affiliations workshop organizers, expected attendance of the workshop, program structure, relevant dates and so on. Workshop submissions should be emailed to the Workshop Chair, Renato Figueiredo.
