Applications are now being accepted for the CERN School of Computing, to be held this year in Göttingen, Germany.

Since the early seventies, CERN has organized every year the school, open to postgraduate students and research workers with a few years of experience in elementary particle physics, computing or related fields. Participants come mainly from  CERN Member States or laboratories in countries associated with CERN. However, a fraction of the students come from outside the particle physics community, generally attracted by the advanced topics that are taught. Attendance ranges from 70 to 80 students, typically of 15 to 25 different nationalities.

The program is organized around 3 thematic themes, with each theme comprising lectures and hands-on exercises. Topics include Data Technologies, Base Technologies, and Physics Computing. The school lasts two weeks.

The deadline for CERN to receive the full application (web application + letter of reference + certification form)  is the 04th May 2009.

The selection of the participants will be made by the Selection Committee and participants will be informed of the outcome of their application by the beginning of June 2009.
