 Feature - Picture this: visualization as a tool for data analysis

Is it a bird? No.

Is it a plane? Not really.

It shows air movement around the rotors of a transforming Bell-Boeing Osprey, and it was created using grid power, computer simulations and the talents of Kelly Gaither, a visualization expert at the Texas Advanced Computing Center.

Together with the visualization group at Argonne National Laboratory in Chicago, U.S., Gaither translates pages of numbers into recognizable patterns, allowing scientists to literally see their results.
