AMUC, Associated Motion capture User Categories, is a Newcastle University-run e-science demonstrator jointly funded by the AHRC and EPSRC UK Research Councils. Performing arts and humanities researchers based in Culture Lab, programmers and interface developers from Computing Science, grid specialists from NEReSC , and biomechanics experts from CREST are studying motion capture data derived from subjects including dancers, musicians and jugglers. Information about their respective work, particularly notation methods is being pooled in order to propose novel mechanisms for retrieving and exploiting shareable grid-based data repositories. By comparing and possibly synthesising requirements and practices pertaining to the investigation of human movement, AMUC hopes to promote interdisciplinary e-science research. |
