As scientists explore the most violent phenomena in the universe, the tiny, almost massless particles called neutrinos are valuable messengers, traveling unimpeded across the vast distances of space.

AMANDA, the Antarctic Muon and Neutrino Detector Array, uses light detectors embedded in Antarctic ice to record cascades of light-emitting particles occasionally generated as neutrinos travel through the ice.

The CERN School of Computing, to be held August 20–31 in Dubrovnik, Croatia, is accepting applications.

The program will cover grid technologies, software technologies and physics computing. Visit the CSC 2007 Web site for a program overview and information about how to apply.
